Bournemouth school children learn about bio-diversity in Venezuela
The Counsellor of the Venezuelan Embassy, Álvaro Sánchez, had a chance to visit Kings Park Primary School in Bournemouth to deliver a workshop on bio-diversity in Venezuela.
Mr. Sanchez facilitated two workshops to Years 3 and 5 at the school, giving a general introduction to the country before focusing on how Venezuela protects its bio-diversity.
Mr. Sanchez spoke of the Venezuelan government's achievements in this area highlighting that Venezuela has one of the highest proportion of protected geographical areas in the world, in which over 67% of national territory is under protection. Venezuela has the largest proportion of the Amazon rainforest under protection in Latin America - 71.5%.

Pastor Maldonado Wins Spanish Grand Prix
Pastor Maldonado became the first Venezuelan ever to win a Formula One race on Sunday when he took first prize at the Spanish Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The Venezuelan driver, who is sponsored by the state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and represents the team Williams F1, beat the Spanish favorite Fernando Alonso of team Ferrari as well as Finland’s Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Maldonado, who is 27 and hails from the city of Maracay, won the 66-lap race with a time of 1:39:09. It was an extraordinary victory in a race charged with emotion.
